Central Library of Gabala region Centralized Library System - Central Library was established in 1930. From 1977 the librarians existing in this region centralized and Gabala region Centralized Library System began activity. In order to ensure the implementation of paragraph 2.1 / 5 of “In the years of 2008 – 2013, the State Program on the Development of the library - information sphere in Azerbaijan Republic” the head of executive power of Gabala region signed an order No.77 in June 2009. According to this order 68 library branches were unified to 26 library branches in the region. At present, there are 1 Central, 3 city, 23 district, rural library branches in the structure of Gabala CLS. 27 librarians work in the Central Library. 11 October 2011, after the Decision No. 162 about the approval of "The model structure and staff units of Azerbaijan Republic city (region) centralized library systems, independent libraries, city, settlement and rural library branches, as well as city, settlement mass libraries, libraries of children and young people" of the Council of Ministers of Azerbaijan Republic a number of changes have been in the structure and staff units of Gabala region CLS. So, Department of organizing and use of common fund and automated library in the Central Library were liquidated, but two new branches were established:• Library - bibliography process automation department. • Information - resource department.Thus, according to the new amendments of the central library, 6 departments are functioning from January 2012.1. Service to the readers department.2. Acquisition and cataloguing department.3. Methods and bibliography department.4. Library - bibliography process automation department.5. Information - resource department.6. Children"s department.The fund of Central Library of Gabala CLS consists of 165982 copies of books (83800 copies in Latin).
