Beylagan City

Modern Beylagan Region assumed its original name in 1989. Former name of the region was Jdanov. Beylagan region was founded in 1939 as an administrative district in Azerbaijan USSR. It has borders with Iran in south-east, with Imishli, Fuzuli, Agjabadi and Zardab Districts through Kura River. The district has 1 city, 6 city-type settlements, and 34 villages. Beylagan District is located to the south-west, plain of Mill. Surface is plain inclined to north-east and east. North-east part of the area is below the ocean’s level. Height in south-west is approximately 100 m. Minerals: gravel, sand and etc. Kura River flows in the north-east border of the district, Araz River – in the south-east border. The district has mainly grey, meadow gray, semi desert plants, has forests.
