“The power of the education system can not prevail over the unity of the teachers. One of the major reasons of shortcomings in Azerbaijan's education is connected with the fact that most of teachers are not experienced enough,” Minister of Education Mikayil Jabbarov said at the 14th Congress of Azerbaijani Teachers.
He said in the past 20 years a lot of inexperienced persons started working at schools. According to the Minister, among them there are persons working with fake diplomas.
“One of the reasons is that well-educated young people choose more promising specialties, as teachers' salary is low, the second reason is that opportunity to choose the specialty of teacher with low scores increases the flow of low-educated people to this sphere. Currently, the number of teachers trained at the higher education institutions almost exceeds twice real demand. It is obvious how ineffective the system is," he said.
Mikayil Jabbarov added that special attention should be paid to the training of teachers, educational institutions with the low performance in the teacher training should be shut down.
