Chinese Billionare Buys Pigeon For Over $289,000
6.2.2012

Pieter Veenstra sold 245 pigeons under the hammer through the Belgian website Pigeon Paradise, or PIPA, for well over $2.52 million, which included the Dolce Vita hen.
The buyer for the expensive Dutch pigeon is known to be Chinese billionaire Hu Zhen Yu, who has bought the pigeon for breeding instead of racing. Though the trend in China shows that pigeons like these are bought generally for racing, but the Chinese shipping magnet seems to have thought otherwise, and breed it instead.
