Azerbaijan plans to change the food ration of Armed Forces, sources in government told.
The change will be made basing on the proposals of the Defense Ministry. Currently, the representatives of the Defense Ministry, the Cabinet of Ministers and Finance Ministry are carrying out relevant studies and calculations.
The changes will result in the removal of a number of products that were used by Soviet Army, their replacement by Azerbaijani meals.
Defense Ministry has offered to include fruit and dessert in the food ration in all military units (before it was applied only to special task units).
In January, 2013, the Cabinet of Ministers confirmed the new list of food ration norms for Armed Forces and other armed units established in line with the legislation of Azerbaijan Republic.
Heretofore, nutrition of Armed Forces servicemen was based on the food ration norms confirmed in 1992. In the new list the number of daily food products for a soldier has been reduced from 28 to 24. Cheese, jam, an egg a day (earlier only once a week) have been added to the list.
