French company Alstom, engaged in tram production and tram-line construction, is willing to participate in the reconstruction of the tram-line in Baku in the future.

This was announced by the company's vice president on Europe, Central Asia and Caucasus, Philippe Romieu, Gun.Az reports.

He noted that talks are underway with the Baku Executive Authority in this regard.

"To my best knowledge, Baku had a tram-line 20-30 years ago. We would like to join the process of reconstruction of the tram-line in Baku. Laying a tram line after a few years in Baku would be a great idea."

The company representative noted that talks are underway to lay a tram line also in Ganja.

According to him, NTL company, which is an Alstom subsidiary, will produce these trams and Alstom will do the engineering.

Romieu said that the company that he represents will build wheeled trams in Ganja, which, according to him, is appropriate for the area of the city.

Besides, he noted the talks with the Baku Metro in connection with joining the construction of a new subway line in Baku. He said they were awaiting a tender for construction of new stations.

Alstom has been operating in Azerbaijan for over 20 years.

Up to now, it has been cooperating with Azerenerji and has built several thermal power stations.
