Taxi activity of cars of Russian production to be banned in Baku

From May 1, 2012, taxi cars of Russian production will be banned in Baku, press secretary of the Transport Ministry Namig Hasanov said.
To him, from May 1, only London cabs and other white-colored cars will serve as taxi in Baku: “According to the article #150.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the cars of Russian production without license will pay penalty in amount of AZN 100 and their taxi activity will be banned after the abovementioned date”.
Hasanov also noted that in general, license for taxi activity is planned to give to 5,000 cars in Baku city: “All of the cars engaged in taxi activity (except London cabs) must be in white color”.
“Currently, 1,000 London cabs operate in Baku “This number is expected to reach 3,000 by the year-end”, added Hasanov.
