Less tea, vicar? World’s smallest bone china tea set - PHOTOS

It is a great British tradition and a fitting way to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. But tea for two isn't usually taken like this - with a cup measuring only 6mm tall. The delicate items are part of the world's smallest bone china tea set, made especially to mark the Queen's 60 years on the throne. The set may be small, but it carries a big price tag - £137 for eight pieces of crockery gilded in 22 carat gold.Careful hands are needed to use even the tallest piece - a 14mm teapot - in the set, which is a replica of one dating from 1795.

A milk jug, a sugar bowl, two cups and two saucers complete the set for two, created by artists Karen Griffiths and Peter Armstrong for fine china company Stokesay Ware.

They say it is the smallest tea set of its kind in the world. Miniature sets have also been created in the US, but are usually made from porcelain.

'We both feel incredibly lucky to have been able to spend the last 30 years working within such a wonderfully creative industry,' said Mrs Griffiths, who is based in London.
