Famous Azerbaijani pianist Shahin Novrasli will perform a concert devoted to great Azerbaijani jazzman Vagif Mustafazadeh. The concert will take place in popular Paris club Le Réservoir on March 14. Alexander Mashin (percussion instruments) and Nathan Peck (contrabass) will also participate in the concert organized by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in France at the assistance of “Buta” Art Centre.
Vagif Mustafazadeh is the most popular and successful jazz performer in the Azerbaijan history, the first jazz-man in the Soviet Union received the Title of Distinguished Artist, creator of the new direction in jazz – Azerbaijani jazz-mugham. Due to his original compositions rich with eastern flavour, improvisations, and mix of mugham and jazz rhythms Vagif became a living legend. His oeuvre had been appreciated highly both in homeland and abroad.
Currently many musicians in Azerbaijan are looking for inspiration in Vagif’s original and colorful music, in his peculiar harmonic language and virtuoso performance.
Shahin Novrasli is one of the most popular contemporary Azerbaijani musicians perfectly performing sophisticated jazz creations and compositions combining classical jazz and traditional Azerbaijani mugham, is the follower of Vagif Mustafazadeh School as well. Shahin is not only virtuoso pianist, improvisator and composer; recently he astonished spectators with new Buta project where showed himself as excellent singer.
Novrasli has already conquered Paris having appeared on different popular stages of the city. In the forthcoming concert Shahin will perform his own compositions as beloved of all creations of Vagif Mustafazadeh, that undoubtedly will leave unfazed no one true judge of jazz.
Nasib Piriyev, the Director General of the “Buta” Arts Centre, has commented the mentioned event: «Shahin’s new program is devoted to great Vagif Mustafazadeh, and its presentation in Paris will be a great privilege for us. We are also planning to organize a big musical festival in memoriam of Vagif, and sincerely hope that soon musical heritage of this great artist will sound again on the best European stages».
