Azerbaijani first lady, chair of the Baku-2015 European Games Organizing Committee Mehriban Aliyeva observed the construction progress at the Baku Olympic Stadium Sept. 10.

Aliyeva was told that large part of the construction, which started in June 2011, had already been completed.

The Baku Olympic Stadium, the capacity of which is up to 69,000, will have a modern style look, proudly joining the Azerbaijani capital’s sports facilities.

Multipurpose stands, a running track and other facilities will be included. The construction will be in accordance with the International Building Code, as well as those of UEFA and FIFA.

The stadium, which will be the largest in the Caucasus, will stretch across 50 hectares, and it will stand approximately 62 meters high. There will be a press centre and a swimming pool as well.

The facility will consist of the main and auxiliary stadiums, an auxiliary building, as well as sections for VIP, CIP, media and disabled spectators. The pitch will have four entrance gates, while the stands will have 26 gates. A 3,103-capacity parking lot will be built on the territory. A 82,000 square meter green area will be laid out around the stadium.
