The Azerbaijani film Buta, directed by Ilgar Najav, is to be shown in competition in the Kinoshock Film Festival. Buta tells the story of a young boy, living with his grandmother in a remote mountain village. "There Was Never a Better Brother", an Azerbaijani-Russian-Bulgarian co-production, directed by Azerbaijan's Murad Ibrahimbayov (Ibragimbekov), is also showing in the main competition. The film is based on a book of the same name by Ibrahimbayov's father, Magsud.
The 20th Kinoshock Festival runs from 11 to 20 September in the Black Sea resort town of Anapa in Russia.
Films from the CIS countries and Baltic states will be shown at the festival.
