An earthquake has hit Azerbaijan in the morning hours today. The tremors occurred at 6:40 am local time.
According
to the Ganja Seismologic Station, the quake was centered in Gabala
District, where the magnitude reached 5.5, while from Ganja to Aghstafa
it was recorded to be 3.5. No destruction or injuries have been reported
in the city.
Gabala has been shaken off by three tremors in the
morning today. The first tremors were recorded 22 km northeast of the
city of Gabala at 6:38:07 am local time. The quake was magnitude 6 at
the epicenter, 5 in Gabala, and 4-3 in the majority of the country’s
regions. There were no casualties, the Republican Seismological Service
Center of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) told.
The
second quake hit the city of Gabala at 8:55:52 am. A bit later, at
9:19:08 am, the third quake was recorded. These tremors passed
unnoticed.
