Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey was honored Monday with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
McConaughey was joined by Christopher Nolan, who directed McConaughey’s latest film, “Interstellar,” and Don Phillips, who cast him in his film debut, “Dazed and Confused”, for the ceremony in front of Madame Tussauds Hollywood on Hollywood Boulevard.
“I got my name…on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” the 45-year-old actor sang atop the podium with his signature Texas accent. “There’s a song in there somewhere.”
He was surrounded by his wife, Camila Alves, and his three young children. The couple started the non-profit Just Keep Livin Foundation, which encourages high school students to make positive living choices.
“I feel like it’s a privilege every single day that I get to get up on a Monday morning. I have a career where I look forward to Monday morning, to going to work,” McConaughey said.
The 2,534th star on the Walk of Fame is the latest in a series of honors the 45-year-old actor has received this year, which also include an Oscar and Emmy nomination.
Appearing more than 40 feature films, McConaughey earned a best actor Oscar in March for his portrayal of AIDS patient Ron Woodroof in “Dallas Buyers Club.” He also received an Emmy nomination for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for his portrayal of Louisiana State Police detective Rust Cohle in HBO’s “True Detective”.
