The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) of Azerbaijan held discussions on the introduction of digital television of DVB-T standard in the Republic.
The discussion was attended by heads of relevant businesses and organizations.
Minister Ali Abbasov noted that currently 85% of the population was covered by digital TV. He stressed the need to accelerate work to provide digital TV in the entire country until the end of this year.
During the discussions it was noted that in contrast to the transition of analog broadcasting to digital broadcasting makes possible a high-quality reception of all TV programs monitored in the capital in any locality of the country. At the same time, in order to achieve the objectives, it was underlined the importance of informing the public about the benefits of digital television.
It was also noted a need to prepare proposals for the adoption of measures necessary for the import of digital TV sets and receivers, and the establishment of their production in the country in order to promote digital TV broadcasting. Participants noted the usefulness of the suspension phase in the country of analog broadcasting.
