Baku is holding a number of fascinating projects ahead of the inaugural European Games, and one of them is the Baku Pianos project.
Baku Pianos project is presented as part of the global action Play me, I'm yours, which is held in 45 cities.
In the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, colorful pianos were placed in various shopping malls. Everyone capable of playing the piano can take part in the action and show their talent.
The organizers believe this project which will take place on the eve of the Games and continue throughout will generate much interest among young musicians, artists and tourists in Baku.
Until know, many people have already showed their ability and played their favorite melodies to the cheers of the public.
The project uses old pianos brightened up by a rainbow of bright colors and attractive images. These pianos are expected to be also installed in parks across the city for all people to enjoy.
Play Me, I’m Yours is an artwork by British artist Luke Jerram that tours the world since 2008. The project has so far reached over six million people worldwide.
More than 1,300 pianos have already been placed across the globe, from New York to London, in public parks, train stations, markets, etc. The project invites the public to engage with, activate and take ownership of their urban environment.
