‘All three mobile operators of Azerbaijan signed a protocol on the application of 4G services.

According to protocol, they carried out each section of an agreed frequency, the Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov told journalists.

To him, no license is required for 4G technology: ‘Here the main question is in the right section of the frequencies between the operators, which we completed last week’.

Abbasov said that mobile operators are given 3 months for application of 4G technology: ‘If during this period they will not implement their technology, the Ministry, as the regulatory framework, will take the appropriate steps’.

Taking stance on reduction of tariffs by operators, the minister noted that since the mobile operators often conduct campaigns, the real drop in prices occurred a long time ago: ‘We are not going to pressure them now, they are waited for application of 4G technology and other large projects requiring investment’.

Abbasov said that 85% of the population was covered by digital technology until the end of 2011. By the end of this year, it is considered to raise this figure up to 100%. ‘Public TV will be provided with HD format for the Eurovision. In addition, we think to provide the private sector with digital technology, too’.

Note that, 4G technology is the latest and highest technology in the world.
