47th Int’l Chemistry Olympiad opens in Baku

The Heydar Aliyev Center hosted on Tuesday the opening ceremony of the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO).

The opening ceremony of the International Chemistry Olympiad, organized by Baku branch of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov, was attended by 292 participants 75 countries, more than 250 scientists, chemists, observers, group heads, Azerbaijani state and government officials, representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in the country and intellectuals.

A video was shown on the Olympiad after the participating countries were presented.

Then, Nargiz Pashayeva, President of the 47th International Chemistry Olympiad, rector of Baku branch of Moscow State University, associate member of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, greeted the participants.

Supported by the Education Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, SOCAR and the Heydar Aliyev Center, the 47th IChO will last till July 29.

The decision to hold the Olympiad at the Baku branch was made in July 2012 in Washington.
