Free parking areas to be established at the entrance to Baku are meant both for trucks and cars.
Restrictions will be imposed on the entrance of both trucks with weights more than 5 tons and cars registered in Azerbaijan’s districts to Baku from 07:00 to 21:00 local time in accordance with the decision "On additional measures on improvement of traffic movement in Baku” passed by the Road Safety Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers, Kamran Aliyev, the chief of the public relations department at the Main State Traffic Police Office told.
Free parking areas to be established by the Interior Ministry by September 2015 at the entrance to Baku from the northern and southern directions are meant both for trucks and cars, Aliyev said. “Cars and trucks for which restrictions will be applied will be able to park for free at the entrance to Baku, and all conditions will be created to ensure the delivery of drivers and passengers on buses to the nearest metro station.”
The Road Safety Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decision "On additional measures on improvement of traffic movement in Baku”.
According to the decision, Interior Ministry’s Main State Traffic Police Office, Ministry of Transport and Baku City Executive Authority were instructed to restrict the movement of trucks with permissible maximum weights more than 5 tons in Baku from 07:00 to 22:00 local time from May 1 to October 1 and from 07:00 to 21:00 local from to October 1 to May 1, except movement of all types of vehicles of special purposes, including crash-recovery and emergency vehicles, those carrying agricultural products. The movement of trucks with weights more than 5 tons in the daytime should be agreed with the Road Safety Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers and organized under special permits of Interior Ministry’s Main State Traffic Police Office. The Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the State Committee on Property Issues, the Baku Mayor’s Office and the Absheron District Executive Authority are to submit to the Road Safety Commission their proposals on the establishment of free parking areas at the entrance to the city from the northern and southern directions for other vehicle means. Moreover, Baku International Bus Station will be the end point of entry to Baku for taxi drivers. The Interior Ministry is to complete the establishment of parking areas by September 2015 and the Transport Ministry is to create all conditions to ensure the delivery of drivers and passengers from the parking areas to the city.
