Monitoring of beaches starts in Azerbaijan

The Republican Hygiene and Epidemiology Center starts monitoring of beaches of Baku and Absheron peninsula, chief of sanitary department of Republican Hygiene and Epidemiology Center Ziyaddin Kazimov told.

According to him, the water samples were taken from all beaches of Baku and Absheron peninsula. Kazimov said that the samples were examined in the lab and added that the chemical, bacteriological, radiological and toxicological analyses of these water samples were carried out. The department chief said the results would be announced in the near future.

According to the last year’s analysis, the quality of water in Mardakan, Shuvelan, Novkhani, Buzovna, Zagulba, Pirshagi, Bilgah, Nardaran, Turkan and Hovsan beaches corresponded to norms.

The bacteriological pollution was observed in Sahil and Shikh beaches of Garadagh and Sabail districts. The use of these beaches was banned because it threatened to health of population and had a risk of infectious diseases.
