3rd Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival in Baku

The 3rd Uzeyir Hajibeyli International Music Festival will take place in Baku on September 18-30, 2011. The festival is organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan. According to the ministry, this year the festival is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of restoration of Azerbaijan’s state independence. Musicians from Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, Austria, South Korea, Russia, Germany and Hungary will participate in the 3rd International Music Festival.
The opening ceremony will be held in Philharmonic Hall on September 18, Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s birthday. Elnara Karimova’s “Buta” chamber choir will perform on the opening day. On September 19, Russia’s Yekaterinburg Academic Opera and Ballet Theater will perform Polad Bulbuloglu’s “Love and Death” ballet on the stage of the Azerbaijan Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
On September 20, a book entitled “Muslim Magomayev. Bibliography” from the series of “Outstanding persons of Azerbaijan” will be presented at the Azerbaijan National Library.
The festival will be ended with the Azerbaijan State Symphonic Orchestra’s concert (art director and conductor: Rauf Abdullayev) on September 30.
