Oxu.Az reports citing Modern.az that citizens entering the station "January 20" not only will be checked by police detectors, but will have to undergo special checkpoints.
According to police officers at the subway station that special units have been established recently, and they are not intended to check all passengers, but only suspicious persons, and to detect dangerous objects.
These checkpoints were installed at the entrance of metro stations "28 May" and "Koroglu".
It is expected the to install such checkpoints in other metro stations.
The head of "Baku Metro" JSC Nasimi Pashayev said that this is due to increased security measures:
"Metropolitan is a means of public transport, which carries a mass of passengers. Our aim is a comfortable and safe delivery of passengers. We are taking all necessary steps towards ensuring the safety of passengers and will continue to do so in the future."
