The Azerbaijan Football Federation Association (AFFA) put in nomination today to host with Georgia the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship, said AFFA President Rovnag Abdullayev.
According to him, as Azerbaijan’s candidacy for hosting 2020 Summer Olympic Games has been discussed up to now, Baku froze temporarily the organization of the European Football Championship: “We held discussions with Georgia, but didn’t overstate this issue because of Olympics. Azerbaijan was not included in “short-list” and we addressed on the European Championship. Budapest hosts FIFA congress today. Our secretary general is there and we put in nomination with Georgia to host Euro-2020”.
AFFA President said that the issue on holding the World Cup with Turkey was not considered.
