UNAOC 7th Global Forum ends in Baku

The closing ceremony of the 7th Global Forum of UN Alliance of Civilizations was held in Baku on Apr. 27.
Delivering a speech at the closing ceremony, UN High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser said the forum was held successfully.
“I'm proud to cooperate with the Azerbaijani government. I thank Spain and Turkey (co-founders of the Alliance) and all for the excellent organization of the forum.

The UN high representative officially launched the UNAOC Advisory Council.
He said that the Council, which will consist of representatives of political, religious, civil societies and academic sector, will give the Alliance recommendations.

On behalf of the Azerbaijani people, Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev, who is also chairing the Forum’s Organizing Committee, expressed gratitude for the decision to hold the UNAOC forum in Baku.
He said that the decision is an expression of attitude towards the values of tolerance in Azerbaijan.
Garayev said as many as 1,500 people from 147 countries took part in the forum. “If we take into account the number of volunteers, more than 6,000 people participated in the forum,” he added.
The minister also expressed gratitude to 120 media outlets for their coverage of the event, noting that the “Baku process”, initiated by Azerbaijan’s president, will continue.
