The intermittent floods are expected in Azerbaijan’s some mountainous rivers, senior hydrologist of the National Hydrometeorology Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Asif Verdiyev told. According to him, unstable weather conditions in the country and the forecasted rains can cause floods in some mountainous rivers of Greater and Lesser Caucasus. Stability is observed in Kur River, no threat is expected.
Verdiyev said that water level increased in most rivers of Greater and Lesser Caucasus as a result of rain showers on June 28. Water level of Lesser Caucasus’s Dastafurchay River increased by 150 cm, Goranchay river – 48 cm, Gandjachay river – 22 cm, Kurekchay river – 4 cm, Great Caucasus’s Gusarchay river – 3 cm, Gudialchay river – 4 cm. The intermittent flood passed from Aghsuchay, Hamamchay and Kurmukchay rivers crossing from Gakh region, a flow passed from Goranchay river (Goranboy region) and Dastafurchay river (Dashkesen region).
