Term of moratorium on sturgeons capture in the Caspian Sea to be determined later November

The agreement providing the imposition of moratorium on sturgeons capture in the Caspian Sea is not ready and the work is being carried out on this document, permanent member of the Caspian Sea Aquatic Bioresources Commission Tariyel Mammadov told.

According to him, the moratorium’s term will be reflected in that agreement: “The 33rd meeting of the Caspian Sea Aquatic Bioresources Commission will be held later November. The term of imposition of moratorium on sturgeons capture in the Caspian Sea will be discussed at that meeting”.

Mammadli said that Azerbaijan captures sturgeons in the Caspian Sea for scientific research and population growth: “An agreement was reached at the 32nd meeting of the Caspian Sea Aquatic Bioresources Commission by the Caspian littoral starts on prohibition the sturgeons capture in the Caspian Sea and we observe it”.

Kazakhstan suggests 5 years, Azerbaijan – 10 years on imposition of moratorium.
