Azerbaijan to certificate intangible cultural heritage

Every sample of Azerbaijan’s intangible cultural heritage will have a passport and receive certificate on belonging to Azerbaijani people. Chief of Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Yashar Huseynli told APA.
According to him, this rule will be implemented in accordance with Azerbaijan Intangible Cultural Heritage Register, which will be approved in the near future.
Huseynli said that in general, more than 4300 samples were included in the state register on Azerbaijan’s territory: “The purpose is maintenance of intangible cultural heritage monuments of ethnography, folklore and craftsmanship and their delivering to the future generation. Folklore - folk song, eposes, dances, cuisine samples, national holidays, historical and social relations and etc. are included here. We are in the last agreement process and the ministry sent letters to corresponding organizations of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. This process is being carried out in every country in accordance with UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage”.
Minister noted that the process will consist of 3 stages, the list of every sample was prepared at the first stage: “The passport to every sample and certificate on its belonging to the Azerbaijani people will be given by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, at the same time by the Copyright Agency at the second stage. File of every sample will be created at the third stage”.
