The 2nd Baku International Book Exhibition-Fair dedicated to the 20th
anniversary of Azerbaijan’s independence has been opened in the Sport
Palace of Hand-Played Games.
The fair is organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Deputy
Prime Minister, people’s writer Elchin Efendiyev made a keynote speech
at the ceremony. Congratulating everyone on the book holiday, Elchin
Efendiyev said the exhibition-fair had become a tradition. Deputy Prime
Minister said the books displayed at the fair make it available to get
acquainted with the history, culture, literature and present state of
Azerbaijani people.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev said books will be
presented, meetings held with famous writers, symposiums and discussions
held within the framework of the three-day exhibition-fair. According to him, 121 books
printed in Azerbaijani publishing houses, 135 books of international
publishing houses are introduced at the event covering 25 countries.
The exhibition will end on September 30. The best publishing house and
the best book will be awarded by the Organizing Committee.
