Within the humanitarian campaign “Extend Helping Hand to Somali” held in Azerbaijan, monthly food assistance was sent to 2000 Somali families settled in the refugee camp between Somali and Kenya. According to ICYFDC sources, the humanitarian aid campaign was organized by the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation (ICYFDC) and other international humanitarian organizations.
Every Somali family settled in the camp received a food packet, which will support them during a month. Distribution of food packet began just after the Ramadan Holiday and finished a few days ago. Representatives of the ICYFDC headquarter returned from Kenya to Istanbul on Wednesday.
ICYFDC Secretary General, Ambassador Elshad Isgandarov said for the first time the Forum organized such humanitarian campaign and it was finished successfully, but Somali refugees are still living in hard conditions: “The population suffers from famine, water and drug deficiency and diseases. There are no social conditions there”.
ICYFDC started a large humanitarian campaign in Azerbaijan in Holy Ramadan month to help Somali people. More than 72 thousand dollars were collected during 10 working days in Ramadan. People, who intended to extend helping hand to Somali, joined this campaign.
