The opening ceremony of the new education complex for the Baku branch
of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov was held.
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mrs. Aliyeva attended the ceremony.
First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva was presented with flowers.
The President cut the ribbon symbolizing the opening of the new education complex of the university.
Director of Moscow State Lomonosov University Viktor Sadovnichy and
Director of the Baku branch of this university informed the President of
Azerbaijan and his spouse that the construction of the new complex had
begun in June 2010. The education complex consisting of seven buildings
and four dormitories was built with high standards and a special design,
as well as the usage of the latest technological advances based on the
experience of world famous universities.
President and his spouse reviewed the new five-storey building of the
university including the well-equipped classrooms with modern
technologies, an extensive library, a conference room, a dining room, a
student center and the "Club of 13 wisemen."
On the ground floor of the university President Ilham Aliyev and his
spouse Mehriban Aliyeva reviewed the photo stands with the views of old
Baku and old Moscow.
Then the President of Azerbaijan and his spouse got acquainted with the
classrooms on different floors of the university, the computer room,
and watched the scenery surrounding the university from the fourth floor
of the university. It was noted that the extensive landscaping works
were held in the courtyard of the complex built on the area of 5
hectares.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed the ceremony.
Then the director of the Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy and
director of the Baku branch of the university Nargiz Pashayeva delivered
their speeches.
Teachers and students of the university took photos with President and his spouse.
After that, President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse Mehriban Aliyeva
reviewed the hall for hand-played games, swimming pool and gym complex.
President of Azerbaijan expressed his satisfaction with the conditions
created in the new complex. The Baku branch of Moscow State Lomonosov
University was established under the Presidential Order of 15 January
2008.
