International Green Week to be held in Baku for the first time

International Green Week project organized by IDEA Campaign (International Dialogue for Action in the Environment) and UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) will kick off in Azerbaijan for the first time on November 12-16, 2012.

Along with local guests, the event will bring together specially invited representatives of international governmental and non-governmental organizations, youth leaders and other guests from around the world.

International Youth Forum will be organized on the first day of the event. The forum will discuss the results of the RIO +20 summit, held in June, 2012.

On the second day of the event for the first time in the Caucasus, UNEP will hold a meeting of the European environmental groups and investors. The event will be attended by more than 50 foreign representatives.

On November 14, ‘Diplomatic study of environment’ training program will be organized at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy. The open lectures are expected to be attended by more than 300 young persons.

On the 4th day of the Green Week, a round table will be held on green economy with the participation of representatives of government agencies and international organizations. The project will end with the meeting of representatives of Environment and Health ministries of the UNEP.

For the first time in the Caucasus, Green Week will be organized in Azerbaijan.

In order to inform the public about the preparations made by the organizing committee of the event, Twitter pages of IDEA Campaign and Green Week (@IDEAcampaign and @GreenWeekBaku) will be updated regularly.

The IDEA campaign, created on July 12, 2011 by Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, is the author of numerous local and international projects.
