US famous “Architectural digest” magazine released the list of great and grandiose architectural projects of 2012. APA reports that the Heydar Aliyev Centre constructed in Baku is among top 5 of 12 grandiose architectural projects. The “Architectural digest” magazine noted that this place, which has a conference hall and museum, will play an important role in the formation of a new image of the Azerbaijan’s capital.
The Heydar Aliyev Centre was constructed under the order signed by Azerbaijani President on December 26, 2006. The construction of the center was started in 2007 and official opening of the building was held on May 10, 2012.
The aim of the Center is to study the statehood philosophy of the national leader of Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev, the idea of Azerbaijanism and Heydar Aliyev’s heritage. The Center is also implementing projects for promoting Azerbaijan’s history, culture, language and other national wealth, supporting and improving science, education, culture, healthcare, sports, ecology and economy.
The list released by “Architectural digest” magazine also includes DNB group office of MVRDV Company in Oslo, International Media Center in Beijing, London Bridge Tower, Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Dalian International Conference Center in Dalian, Sliced Porosity Block in Chengdu, Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York, Pazhou Hotel in Guangzhou and Kamppi Chapel of Silence in Helsinki.
