Azerbaijan marks Day of Knowledge on September 15.
1,445,049 pupils will study in all grades across the country's secondary schools this year.
395,773 pupils will study in the general education institutions of Baku in the new academic year. Also, over 46,000 pupils will study in the first grade at the capital city's schools.
499 grades with biases will be organized in 212 schools in 2017-2018 academic year.
As part of preparations for the 2017-2018 academic year, new buildings were built for school-lyceum No. 20 and school No. 306 in the capital, schools No.10, 74, 171, 201, 212, school-lyceum No. 62 and special educational institution No. 268 were overhauled. Repair works were carried out in 9 more schools. Educational institutions have been provided with 130 computers and laptops, 3629 sets of desks, 444 printers and photocopying machines for the 2017-2018 academic year as well as 40 educational institutions with modern military cabinets.
Notably, in accordance with President Ilham Aliyev's decree, dated August 21, 2004, the academic year in the country begins on September 15 and is celebrated as Day of Knowledge.
