A meeting with chairman of Board of Directors of Istanbul Bilgi University Rifat Sarijaoglu, member of Board of Directors Ural Aghuzum, Director-General of the Laureate International University Miguel Carmelo and CENAY Group’s Board Director Cengiz Guldamlasi was held at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technologies.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Iltimas Mammadov noted that Azerbaijan cooperated with the Universities of Turkey, including Europe. Stressing the paying of country attention to the student exchange Deputy Minister said that the government sent 5,000 students to the several universities of the world per year. Besides, the Ministry sends 180 students abroad to study on priority directions.
In turn, Sarijaoglu noted that one of the greatest universities of Turkey was Istanbul Bilgi University. He said that his University had 14,000 students and the University had memorandums of understanding with European, including regional countries. Majority of these memorandums consist of engineering sphere: “We interest in preparation of specialists in ICT sphere. Near 1,000 students in our university are studying in online regime. We have great teachers’ collective on ICT sphere. Our universities established technoparks in the form of consortium“.
M. Carmelo informed about his University and noted that the Laureate International University operated 60 branches in 30 countries of the world. Totally, the University has 750,000 students: “Our model of academic teaching is based on three factors. One of them is directed to the student. We pay attention to the language issues and try our students to speak at least in two languages like a native language”.
Stressing online education in their University Carmelo said that this was useful for more working-people. Carmelo says the people’s welfare increases in Azerbaijan day-by-day: “According top researches, the students in Azerbaijan will double during next 10 years. Therefore, we want to bring our practice here”.
Speaking about implementation of several projects on e-government by the government Aghuzum noted Azerbaijan’s successes in this sphere and said that both countries would achieve successes.
In turn, the deputy Minister Mammadov stressed that they familiarized with Turkish, as well as world’s technoparks and Azerbaijan also worked hard top establish technoparks: “the details for technoparsk, which will be established in Sumgayit, are being prepared”.
