Azerbaijan's tar performing art included into UNESCO Representative List of intangible cultural heritage of humanity

The VII session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural of the UNESCO has commenced in Paris on December 3.

The Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity has been discussed at the session and the Azerbaijani tar performing has been included into this list, the ministry of culture and tourism said.

The Azerbaijani delegation is attending the session of the committee. Thanks to the care and attention of the State of Azerbaijan, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in particular, its president, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, the Azerbaijani mugham, art of Azerbaijani ashug and Novruz Holiday as an international intangible cultural heritage, as well as Azerbaijani carpet were included into the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

During the committee’s session this year, the future of 2003 Convention, the issues on the activity of the Committee and the nominations submitted by the other member countries have been discussed.

The event will last December 7.
