Candy trees are planted in the Goychay region of Azerbaijan. The trees planted in the fruit base in the Shahadat village of the Goychay Research Institute of Horticulture and subtropical plants.
Director of the base Elchin Ismayilov said that Goychay managed to grow and keep candy tree, imported from China in 1930. Although it is a fruit tree that is not characteristic of Azerbaijan's territory and climate, and has repeatedly faced with the threat of destruction, the base workers were able to save the tree and even managed to increase the number of trees to 3.
Candy tree that was included in the Red Book is under special protection and gives fruit in December. Its height ranges in 10 to 15 meters.
