Head of Azerbaijan's Presidential Administration, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev has attended the 5th meeting of the CIS Security Council secretaries in Moscow.
The meeting focused on the issues of preventing the spread of radical religious movements in the CIS, as well as the situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and measures to ensure the security of the Central Asian states, and heard reports on aspects of the fight against international terrorism.
The head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev delivered a report at the event. In his speech, academician Ramiz Mehdiyev drew the audience's attention to the positive experience of Azerbaijan in the field of preventing religious radicalism, extremism and terrorism, as well as improvement of relevant legislation, and fruitful activities of the law-enforcement bodies and special services.
On the sidelines of the event, head of the Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev also held bilateral meetings with Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev, and deputy secretary Rashid Nurgaliyev, as well as with State Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus Stanislav Zas.
The meetings featured discussions on the development of cooperation through security councils, and saw the signing of the Cooperation Plan for 2018-2019 with the Russian Security Council's Office.
