Google has released a Christmas promo that features some of animation studio Aardman‘s characters trying out Google+ Hangouts. The festive video is about getting family and friends together for the holidays. It features Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Ginger from Chicken Run, and others taking part in an online video chat.
The promo directs viewers to a microsite, which guides them through creating a Hangout and lets them send personalized Wallace and Gromit video invitations to family and friends. During a Hangout, a Holiday Effects app lets participants put on a Santa hat, reindeer antlers, or even Wallace’s iconic vest. Cristian Cussen, head of marketing for Google+ in Europe, Middle East & Africa, said:
We are thrilled to see Wallace and Gromit use a Google+ Hangout to join the rest of the Aardman family for the very first time. We would love for families and friends everywhere to easily connect over the holidays. For those who can’t make it home this year, they can still spend the holidays together through Google+ Hangouts.
