Kate Winslet married Ned Rocknroll, a nephew of Virgin Group billionaire Richard Branson, earlier this month.Winslet, 37, and Rocknroll, a 34-year-old fellow British citizen who changed his name from Ned Abel Smith, have been together for more than a year.
"I can confirm that Kate Winslet married Ned Rocknroll in New York earlier this month in a private ceremony attended by her two children and a very few friends and family," the "Titanic" actress' rep told People magazine on Wednesday, December 26. "The couple had been engaged since the summer."
Us Weekly magazine had earlier reported that the two wed in early December in New York in front of family and friends.
Winslet has been married twice before. She and director Jim Threapleton tied the knot in 1998 and divorced in 2001. They have a 12-year-old daughter together. Winslet then married director Sam Mendes in 2003. They divorced in 2010 and are parents to a 9-year-old boy.
Rocknroll, who works for Virgin Galactic, Branson's company's commercial space tourism venture, was previously married to a UK heiress, Eliza Pearson. They had wed in 2009 in a pagan ceremony led by a druid and divorced two years later, according to the UK newspaper The Telegraph.
