Azerbaijan and Turkey are starting writing common history, said director of ANAS Institute of History Yagub Mahmudov at the Scientific Council today.
He said for this purpose a group of historians have arrived in Azerbaijan from Turkey: “The decision on writing Azerbaijani - Turkish common history has been reached at the meeting between Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President during his visit to Azerbaijan. There is a great need to consolidate the histories of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Up to now we have negotiated several times on writing the common Turkic history in Turkey. However, the negotiations have remained at the level of conversation till now. Therefore, we decided to come to an agreement by conducting oral negotiations without signing a protocol. Historians from both countries will periodically carry out mutual visits and begin to write the common Turkic history.”
Mahmudov said the historians would be invited from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Dagestan along with Turkey and common Turkic history will be written.
