The admission of applications to the national selection tour for Eurovision-2012 Song Contest has finished on October 25 in the Public Television. 119 people applied for represent Azerbaijan in the contest which will be held in Baku. Chief of public affairs department of the Public Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Tahir Mammadov said that the selection process of candidates would start in the next few days. The persons selected by professional jury will attend the main stage of the selection tour and contest in the live broadcast on Public TV. As it is known, the rules of the national selection are the same as the last year’s selection. Our representative will be selected by juries and viewers.
This transparent selection style, which was successful for Azerbaijan last year, is the same with the holding of Eurovision Song Contest and was highly assessed by the European Broadcasting Union. The participants of the previous contests and well known young singers as well as the people living abroad are among the candidates of the national selection tour which consists of several stages.
