Mobile communication to be available at Azerbaijan Airlines’ four aircrafts

Mobile communication will be available in four airliners of "Azerbaijan Airlines" (AZAL) until the end of January, Azerfon (mobile operator in Azerbaijan) told.

Nar Mobile subscribers will have a tariff plan "Nar Air". The price per minute for incoming and outgoing on aircraft board will hit two manat. Sending a text message (SMS) will hit 0,50 manat (incoming SMS free). The cost of sending MMS will hit 2.6 manat and one megabyte GPRS - nine manat.

Azerfon has a 10-year exclusive agreement with AZAL to render mobile communication services on this airlines' aircraft board.

Mobile communication on aircraft board is being currently operated by means of a single ground station in Europe, based in Amsterdam.

OnAir company plans to establish the second ground station in Baku in the future with Azerfon's support.

The station will distribute the load from the satellites ensuring mobile services rendered to passengers on aircraft board in other CIS countries.

"Azerbaijan Airlines" will be the first airlines in the CIS rendering the communication services on aircraft board.
