“It is planned to increase salaries and pensions in 2013. This is carried out regularly,” Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev said making a closing speech at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the outcomes of socio-economic development of 2012 and tasks lying ahead in 2013.

The Head of State said average salary and pension is higher in Azerbaijan compared to the CIS countries.

“The average salary is more than $500. Average pension is about $200. Replacement rate is equal to that in the developed countries. Pension accounts for 40% of the salary. But certainly we are not satisfied with it. Though salaries and pensions have recently increased by several times, we must do our best to achieve more growth,” he said.

President said the living standards of the people, those working for the private sector will be improved more, as plans on improvement of business environment, opening of new facilities and industrialization are realized.

“The salaries of those working for the public sector must be and will be increased. This is envisaged in this year’s budget,” he said.
