Are you sick with the flu, or are you having a bad cold? Eat some ice cream.

One ice cream company based in New York, claims that their ice cream helps clear sinus and relives an itchy throat.

An Ice Cream Company unveiled a new treat they claim is specially formulated for people with the flu.

The ice cream got the catchy name “Influenza Sorbet”, which sounds appetizing. Kids, will love this as they would surely choose ice cream over medicine.

Well not so fast. Health officials are encouraging people to get the flu shot and not rely on the Influenza Sorbet for a cure, since it has not been proven to help.

Jeni Britton Bauer, owner of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, said that the flu ice cream treat has gotten rave reviews. "People tell me that it is the only thing that makes them feel better," Bauer, said.

According to Bauer the recipe is from an old family remedy, which includes lemon, spicy cayenne pepper and a healthy dose of Maker's Mark bourbon whiskey.

Bauer said a key ingredient is a dash of pectin, which is used in cough drops to help sooth itchy throats.
