Some scientific centers under Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) will evolve into scientific research institutes, the ANAS President Mahmud Karimov told.
Karimov said it would help to build a more effective functioning of these organizations: “For instance, Mardakan Arboretum is attached to the ANAS. In fact, this is a research institution. Why not to call it Institute of Dendrology? Central Botanical Garden is actually a scientific center. This center may be renamed as Botanical Institute. Fund of Manuscripts later became the Institute of Manuscripts in the past. The Republican Center of Seismic Service is a dual subordinated body. This body is attached to both the Cabinet of Ministers and ANAS. If the Cabinet of Ministers doesn’t object, the Republican Center of Seismic Service may be considered as a structural unit of the ANAS and renamed as Institute of Seismology.”
