“There are no doctors of science younger than 30 in the state universities," Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov has said.
He said at present, 2,723 people are studying in the country on philosophy and doctoral programs: "Universities account for 67 percent of those studying for Doctor of Philosophy (1452 persons) and 52 percent (291 persons) of those studying for doctor of science. If we compare these indicators with age, it turns out that 8 per cent of those studying for doctoral programs in the country (163) are up to 40 years old. The age of 65% of doctors of sciences in the state universities of Azerbaijan is above 61. There are no doctors in science young than 30 years old at these institutions."
The Minister said that in 2017, 455 people were admitted on PhD programs and 129 on doctor of science programs.
