Note to sports franchises: Bringing a live version of your team's mascot into the arena is not necessarily a good idea. This is especially true if your club's namesake is a wild animal, like a condor.
The Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL learned this the hard way on Friday evening when a live Andean Condor got loose in the arena before a game against the Las Vegas Wranglers.
As the large, likely frightened bird of prey surveyed its surroundings and looked for a way out, the alternately slipping, singing and scared humans involved gave the incident a decidedly slapstick air. According to the team's official Twitter account, the condor is "OK."
