Serbia police recover stolen Rembrandt painting

Serbian police have found a picture of Rembrandt's "Portrait of a father," stolen from the Museum of the Serbian city of Novi Sad in January 2006.

The canvas was discovered near the town of Sremska Mitrovica, 70 kilometers west of Belgrade.


The police arrested four suspects in the theft.


The authenticity of the finds has been confirmed by experts. The picture was painted in 1630. Experts estimate its value by more than 3.5 million dollars.


Breaking into the museum seven years ago, attackers also stole the "Seneca" Rubens, "Night landscape with a fisherman" Pier Francesco Mola and painting "Head of Christ" unknown European artist XVI century.
