Director of the Public Television of Azerbaijan Jamil Guliyev made a statement on the calculation of Azerbaijani votes for Russia in Eurovision 2013 song contest AzerTag reports.
The statement says:
“Russia is a country that has much in common with Azerbaijan-these are common interests, common human values and common history. Today, cultural and artistic ties of Azerbaijan and Russia may serve a good example for many countries, including for the CIS states. The vocal and artistic talents of the Russian groups taking part in different events in Azerbaijan attract a capacity crowd. The representatives of Azerbaijan are welcomed as much cordially by the Russian audience. The proof is the high point given by the Russian audience to the representative of Azerbaijan in Eurovision 2013 contest.
It has to be noted that this high assessment is just a demonstration of the recognition provided by the Russian spectators to the representatives of our country.
By the information of the public television of Azerbaijan, received from the national mobile operators, Russian singer Dina Garipova received the second place by results of sms-voting which was to ensure the high final score in the national voting of Azerbaijan in favor of Russia. It has to be noted that the national jurors also gave a high score to Russia.
It creates a serious concern that Russia received no point during the final calculation of votes from Azerbaijan. And it is possible to understand why today most public representatives, intellectuals, as well as the creative people voiced their resentment over this fact. We fully share their opinion that Russia had a beautiful song and a strong singer this year,.
We consider that the high assessment given by the Azerbaijani spectators by results of sms-voting, as well as the assessment of the national jurors to the Russian singer in Eurovision song contest is not adequate to the declared score.
We do hope sincerely that this case possibly initiated by certain concerned groups won’t cast a shadow on the fraternal relations of Russian and Azerbaijani peoples”.
