The first Azerbaijani cultural and community centre has opened in Vancouver. The centre will hold courses in the Azerbaijani language, music and
national dance, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
An active member of the Azerbaijani community in Vancouver, Mahammad
Purazad, managed to acquire a building and renovate it to serve as the
centre.
Azerbaijan's ambassador to Canada, Farid Shafiyev, attended the opening
ceremony. He emphasized the importance of promoting Azerbaijani culture
in Canada and of the work of the Azerbaijani community.
A concert of Azerbaijani music ended the event.
