Azerbaijani People's Artist Togrul Narimanbekov will be buried at the famous Passy Cemetery in Paris, his spouse Sevil Narimanbekova told. According to her, the Mayor of Paris city has already permitted the burial.
Sevil Narimanbekova said her lawyer is currently engaged in burial preparations and the funeral is likely to be held early next week: “Togrul Narimanbek loved this place and wanted to be buried at the Passy Cemetery. I am very pleased that the Mayor of Paris permitted to bury my husband at Passy Cemetery. Now I'm even somewhat grateful to his daughter, because she delayed the process, when sued and slandered me and I was able to achieve the permission of the Mayor of Paris to bury my husband where he wanted.”
The Passy Cemetery was established in 1820 and is located in the centre of Paris on the right bank of the Seine near the Champs-Élysées. Famous political and cultural figures, including well-known painters Édouard Mane and Berthe Morisot, composers Claude Debussy and Gabriel Fauré, Leila Pahlavi, daughter of the Shah of Iran and others were buried at this cemetery.
The laureate of the USSR State Prize and People's Artist of Azerbaijan, individual pensioner of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Togrul Narimanbekov died at 83 on June 7. The second wife of the deceased wanted him to be buried in France. However, his daughter Asmar Narimanbekova opposed it. She demanded to bury her father in Azerbaijan and appealed to the French court in this regard. Court has passed a judgment to bury him in France. An appeal filed against judgment has been rejected.
